Clowning Workshops

Date: TBD
Time: TBD

Clowning Class

Welcome to the most joyful art form there is! Each week, KC (clown name: Dr. Doodle) will focus on a different element of clown arts, from balloon animals to pantomime to juggling to silly illusion! Come learn about the beautiful history of clowning, as you are now a part of that story! Whether or not you already have a clown name, you are invited as your silliest self!

Clowning Viewpoints

Come as your silliest and entire self to explore storytelling through Anne Bogart's Viewpoints techniques, through clowning arts! You, as participants, will be an ensemble of collaborators, practicing devised theatre as clowns to tell a story together. By incorporating balloons, scarfs, and no storage of magic, you will become a team of clowns (car not included)!

Clowning 101

Balloons, juggling, and pantomime, oh my! KC (Dr. Doodle) will teach you the fundamentals of clowning arts. Beginning with interactive storytelling to learn the history of clowning, we will cover three basic skills: how to make a balloon animal, how to use scarves as aerial objects, and the artistry of effective pantomime!

About Your Instructor:

KC (she/her), better known as Dr. Doodle, is a local humanitarian clown specializing in pediatric healthcare clowning. She is certified through The Clown School and has her MFA in Theatre Education and Applied Theatre from Emerson College, as well as her BA in Theatre Education from Appalachian State University. Her favorite thing about clowning is getting to laugh with new friends, and a fun fact about her is that she takes her two pet bunnies, Gus Gus and Pip Pip, on walks!

Really, we'd love to host you.
